“You cannot reach your destination if you never leave the shore.” This quote is ascribed to be a famous Chinese proverb.

Did I find the saying in my fortune cookie last Friday night after enjoying steamed dumplings, hot and sour soup and spicy shrimp with vegetable? No cookie wisdom but dinner was excellent!

The saying represents my 2009 marketing philosophy. On January 1st, 2009, my company, Independent Lease Review (ILR) left the safety of the harbor and set sail.  We had been safe at shore.

What is our ultimate destination? I’m not sure. Hard for me to admit.

I should make marketing plans. Visualize our destination every morning while I meditate. And create a Dream Board for the office.

Give that advice to Wall Street. Stock market guru’s who had multiple page marketing plans for 2008 and 2009. Where are those plans now? The shredder. Gurus are collecting unemployment.

With economic doom and gloom forecasts, 2009 will be different for every entrepreneur, employee, stockholder, elected official and university student.

My new, shiny marketing plan includes
• Blogging: to stay connected and be an easy & reachable resource.
• Products to help our friends and followers get the training their jobs require.
• New image, logo and branding from Paul Davies Design
• A website stuffed with information, articles, white papers.
• Webinars: Education that is innovative, informative and priced-right.
• Twitter to stay connected and make new friends.
