I’d like to share a special story about a lady and her journey with breast cancer. It’s a story about courage and faith.

I’m sure there’s someone in all our lives who has touched us in some way with her battle with breast cancer. I hope this story will be an inspiration.

Sometimes it’s important for us to stop for a moment and appreciate the special connection we all have that brings us together.

Click on the video below to play it. Then come back here to read how you can help make a difference in the lives of cancer survivors all over the U.S., plus take advantage of a great deal.

That Saturday in a hat department changed my life forever. I’ll never forget those words, “But it’s only breast cancer.”

Over the years, I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of building a close friendship with Lovetta. It all started with a chance meeting while we were both shopping for hats.

Her purpose for shopping that day was entirely different from mine. She needed a hat to bolster her inner strength and to keep her head warm after losing her hair to chemo.

I didn’t need a new hat; I just wanted a new hat. Now that hat carries a special story – one of courage, faith and friendship.

And it taught me a life lesson . . . I learned how to listen CARE-Fully. When you care, fully, you listen. Put your life on hold. If you open your ears and your heart to be available to help another person, your life will be richer.

Lovetta’s journey to becoming a cancer survivor is typical of so many women. Perhaps someone close to you – your mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt, cousin. Maybe a friend or coworker. Or your own journey.

After defeating breast cancer, then what? How does she get back in the swing of life?

There’s a wonderful nonprofit organization that is helping survivors do just that. It’s called Back in the Swing. Its mission is to promote joyful, healthy and proactive living after breast cancer. It is the only national grassroots nonprofit that is dedicated to the healthcare of breast cancer survivors.

Here’s the favor I’d like to ask.

Please help breast cancer survivors by making a donation to Back in the Swing.

The organization started in Kansas City in 2000 and has expanded nationwide. Back in the Swing USA counsels women to be their own advocate and to seek help for their post-treatment medical and psychosocial needs specific to their breast cancer experience.

It also partners with academic cancer centers around the country to form a national network for clinical research and clinical care programs.

That’s not all. I mentioned a great deal too.

We have all been touched, so let’s touch others.

I asked my staff how they have been touched by breast cancer. This disease took a mother, grandmother, aunt and two friends. Everyone in the office has been touched.

Breast cancer survivors are courageous and inspirational. Let’s help them get back in the swing of life. Thank you so much!
